Scripts

I've always loved scripting/programming. I have had work in a variety of languages, both scripting and programming, I prefer scripting much more though. I have worked with python, ruby, perl, bash, and php the most with. You will see below some example scripts.

Web Development

Random Thumbnails Script

(PHP)

This script was created for use on the bladdo.net site. Pretty much the script is very simple, it gets 3 random lines from a text file and makes sure none are the same and then prints them. There are other scripts out there that do the same thing, but I couldn't find any that were simple enough for my use or supported 3 images.

Unix :: General

SSH_Load

(Ruby)

This ruby script is a script I designed for conky originally, but it is very helpful just in general for *nix administration. This is a very small script which just shows how many users are connected via ssh, and if the number is 1 then it will show the actual IP of the machine connected.

(Ruby)

Very simple splitting script in ruby to split up ifconfig to get the local IP adress. This has been done before, but I was just bored and wanted to program something in ruby so I did it. This script assumes your network card is eth0.

Unix :: PekWM Pipe Menus

System PekWM Pipe Menu

(Perl)

This is a system pipe menu for pekwm I scripted. It shows memory usage and cpu usage. This is a very nice script for monitoring performance. I will update this script soon to show uptime aswell.

Gmail PekWM Pipe Menu

(Perl)

This is a gmail checker I wrote in perl. It tells you how many new messages you have in your gmail account and it tells you there subjects. It pipes it all out into a PekWM Pipe Menu.

This an EXTREMELLY compressed script I wrote to get the active internet connections in netstat and pipe them out into a PekWM menu. This would be ideal for paraniod people who think they are always getting hacked ;) .

Moola Hi / Lo Analysis Script

(Perl)

I created this script back in the days when I was playing Moola. Moola is a online game where you get a free penny and then can double your penny playing games, and keep on doubling to generate large sums of money. This script is designed to keep track cards in the hi / lo game. It will keep your statistics up to date all the time and tell you the better statistically safe option to go with. You will not always win with this script but it is a helpful guideline.

Recover Adium's AIM buddies via generic log folders

One day I was using Adium X (a popular AIM client for OS X) when my buddy list suddenly disappeared, and Adium then updated the AIM server with my empty buddy list ... and then my buddy list was gone.
